“Real Time” host Bill Maher revealed one issue he raised with President Donald Trump during his recent White House visit.
In an interview with former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Friday, Maher said he spoke with Trump about how he’s handling the Russia-Ukraine war.
“Honestly, I think what he’s doing with Russia is unconscionable,” Maher said. “And Lindsey Graham was the guy who always talked him out of that. If Lindsay Graham was alive, I just don’t think that Trump would be doing the stuff he’s doing, basically putting a knife in the back of [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy.”
Maher also brought up that Trump backed off a plan to livestream the execution of the Fort Hood shooter.
“Somebody talked him out of that,” Maher said. “Remember that we’re going to have a live execution of the Fort Hood shooter. “Somebody talked about ... he does listen when he’s in that White House. He looks you in the eye. He never interrupts. He never gets mad. He listens.”
Maher drew waves of criticism when he accepted an invitation to visit the White House last year. He described Trump during his first visit as “gracious,” but said he doesn’t understand why he “isn’t that in other settings.”
