Michigan GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers met with a prominent local publisher for the Arab-American community — but did so in secret, begging to keep it under wraps, reported Somer Soderman of Michigan Information & Research Service.

This episode occurred two years ago, when Rogers was running his last Senate campaign.

"The Arab American News publisher said Mike Rogers privately met with him & roughly 15-20 Arab American community members during his 2024 Senate campaign, then asked them to keep the meeting out of the media as some GOP voters would not support him if they knew he met with them," reported Soderman.

Rogers, who has faced separate controversies for exaggerating his role in the operation to take out Osama bin Laden, is currently running against Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive and former public health official for Detroit.

The GOP has tried to portray El-Sayed as a dangerous extremist due to his criticism of the Israeli government.

El-Sayed, for his part, has attacked Rogers over carpetbagging allegations, as Rogers owns property in Florida and has even campaigned from there.
