On Friday, July 24, Detroit, the city founded by French explorer Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, celebrates its 325th birthday.

To celebrate the milestone, free ice cream bars, courtesy of Michigan’s Hudsonville Ice Cream, will be doled out. There’s also a chance to win prizes.

From 6-9 p.m. Friday, Hudsonville Ice Cream will be at Campus Martius as part of Movie Nights in the D. The event also coincides with July’s National Ice Cream Month.

At Campus Martius, Hudsonville will be handing out, while supplies last, its premium ice cream bars including SuperScoop and Salted Caramel flavors.

Hudsonville is also celebrating a significant milestone. This year, Holland-based Hudsonville marks its 100th birthday.

According to the Downtown Detroit Partnership’s website, "A Minecraft Movie" is the feature on Friday. It begins at 7 p.m. at Campus Martius.
