HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A Houston man is facing two aggravated assault charges after police say he used a large steel pole to attack people in the middle of a northside street on Thursday.

The alleged assaults happened near Tidwell Road and the Eastex Freeway. Surveillance video obtained by ABC13 shows a man, identified by police as Christopher Sevedra, swinging a large pole in the roadway before crossing the street and striking a car with Angela Cavazos inside.

"He came towards me with a pole, and I was in my car, and I was scared because he was already terrorizing people across the street," Cavazos said. She reversed her car and drove away.

Houston police said Sevedra also attacked Mauro Saldana, who was trying to get to a bus stop when he was struck in the arm. Saldana showed his scraped and bandaged injury.

"He didn't talk to me, nothing. And just attacked me, that's it," Saldana said.

Witnesses told investigators that Sevedra then went on to terrorize people around the CVS at Eastex and Tidwell. Cavazos said that even after officers arrested him, he continued to fight.

"I was at the CVS when they arrested him, and he was kicking the window trying to get out. They put one of those things on him, because I'm pretty sure he was biting," she said.

Court records show Sevedra was being evaluated for mental health issues. He is facing two counts of aggravated assault.
