Small-town police officer found dead in Spring Branch apartment, HPD says
Very little is known about the circumstances leading to Officer Daniel Trujillo's death. Investigators have only revealed that he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A small-town police officer's death is now being investigated as a homicide after he was found dead inside his Spring Branch apartment on Friday, authorities said.
Very little is known about the circumstances leading to Officer Daniel Trujillo's death. Investigators have only revealed that he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said they were called to Trujillo's apartment at Wilcrest on the Katy Freeway around 4:30 p.m. Friday.
According to officers, that call was for a "person down," and when police entered his apartment, they said they found him dead.
According to a post on the Taft Police Department's Facebook page, Trujillo worked for the department just outside Corpus Christi for the past three years.
Records show Trujillo owns a house in Houston and was renting the apartment in Spring Branch.
Taft is a tiny town, and Trujillo is one of just five officers listed on the department's website.
On Monday, the Taft Police Department posted that it is deeply saddened to learn of Trujillo's death. He was 36 years old.
Houston police have not yet identified any suspects. They're asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
